May is a wonderful time of year to celebrate love, and this year, I had the pleasure of photographing a truly beautiful wedding at the stunning Botley Hill Barn. Nestled in the Surrey countryside, this venue provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable wedding day. As a seasoned wedding photographer in Surrey, I’ve seen many beautiful locations, but there’s something about Botley Hill’s charm, with its rolling countryside views and rustic elegance, that always stands out. From the excitement of getting ready to the heartfelt ceremony, lively party, and a spontaneous champagne spray that had everyone laughing, this wedding had it all! The atmosphere was alive with love and support, and every glance and smile between the couple told its own story. For me, these authentic, unscripted moments are what make wedding photography so rewarding.
Surrey Wedding Venue
After the ceremony, the celebration moved outside, where the terrace offered panoramic views of the Surrey Hills. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed drinks reception. Guests toasted the couple with glasses of champagne, chatting and laughing as the late spring sun cast a golden glow over the scene. The highlight of the session—and perhaps the entire day—was the champagne spray shot. Surrounded by their bridal party, the couple popped open a bottle, and the resulting spray of bubbles was as celebratory as it was chaotic!
Everyone was laughing, and the images from that moment perfectly encapsulate the fun and carefree vibe of the day. The speeches were a rollercoaster of emotions. The father of the bride delivered a touching tribute that had the room in tears, while the best man’s stories left everyone in fits of laughter.
